Rust. Nothing is uglier, or more depreciating to your 4WD’s value. And if you’re using your 4WD as the manufacturer intended (to get you into the great outdoors) you’re going to need some rust prevention techniques up your sleeve.
A lot of four wheel drives on the road, particularly the older ones – sport dull paint. Look a little closer, and you’ll see that this is the result of thousands of tiny scratches down the sides – and often the bonnet, roof, and rear of the vehicle are good as new.
